Animation Montage and Combos

Using Animation Montages is a great way to set up animations for your character and add animation notifys to it without affecting the original animation.


As you can see there are several animnotify tracks added to this montage.

To perform a combo, I selected some apropriate animations I'd downloaded off Mixamo and created Anim Montages from them, adding in the anim notifys which I needed to get the impact frames and when to continue/end the combo, etc.

I then created an input for attacking which, on each press increased the combo count, so as to play the correct animation.

Here is the blueprint below showing the combo counter and the switch node to choose the animations.


The animation Montage has additional features not used here, including the ability to string several animations together into one long sequence.
