Gathering and creating assets

Before I can begin implementing, I need to gather character models and animations to add to the project.

The quickest way to do this is to use a service like Mixamo, which has pre-made characters and animations which can be easily implemented for prototyping and be replaced later in the development process with the real assets and animations. It also includes a simple rigging service.

This is where all the animations and characters for this project will originate until proper ones can be created.

As the character needs weapons, I created a set of simple swords and a shield.

I imported them and applied a basic metallic material to them in Unreal Engine.

While these weapons, characters and animations will serve during prototyping, quality of work is very important later in development and these will all need to be replaced if a final product is to be released.

The rigs produced by the algorithm on Mixamo is very basic and will require some tweaking if quality it to be maintained.
